  Beim Löschen mit dem Windows Papierkorb werden nur die Verweise auf die Dateien entfernt, ohne diese real zu löschen. Im Gegensatz hierzu werden beim Shreddern mit der Software abylon SHREDDER die kompletten Daten bis zu 35 mal überschrieben (Peter Gutmann Methode). Danach können die Daten nicht mehr rekonstruiert werden. Gleiches gilt für den Freispeicher, die Surfspuren des Browsers, die Dateinamen, doppelte Dateien oder die Laufwerke.
