Die wesentliche Funktion von Slicer ist das Zerschneiden' von Bildern in Teilbilder, wie sie oft im Internet Verwendung finden. Slicer kann Bilddateien in den folgenden Formaten öffnen: JPG, JPEG, EMF, WMF, ICO, BMP. Diese Dateiformate kann Slicer in JPEG-Dateien konvertieren. Desweiteren ermöglicht Slicer die Vergrößerung und Verkleinerung von Bildern. Dabei wird ein spezielles Verfahren benutzt, das Halbtonkorrekturen durchführt, so daß die Bildqualität weitaus besser ist, als die von Lupen. Bilder können im JPEG-Format komprimiert werden, wobei die Qualität frei einstellbar ist.
