WinZip® 8.1 bietet mit erweiterten und konfigurierbaren Explorer-Kontextmenüeinträgen eine noch bessere Integration in den Windows Explorer - außerdem lassen sich nun vom Explorer-Fenster aus auch mehrere Archive auswählen und in einem Arbeitsgang extrahieren. Benutzer, die Probleme mit einer Größenbeschränkung für E-Mail-Anlagen haben oder umfangreiche Archive aufteilen möchten, um den Downloadvorgang zu vereinfachen, können mit der neuen Funktion "Archiv splitten" mehrere Teildateien in der gewünschten Größe erzeugen. Über die WinZip Quick Pick, das neue WinZip-Symbol in der Windows-Taskleiste, erhalten Sie direkten Zugriff auf Ihre zuletzt bearbeiteten Archive und andere WinZip-Funktionen. Und Benutzer von Windows XP werden die Unterstützung neuer XP-Funktionen zu schätzen wissen.

A-UPX GUI dient als grafisches Interface (GUI = Graphical User Interface) für die Konsolenanwendung UPX . Bei UPX handelt es sich um ein Programm welches in der Lage ist, EXE und DLL Dateien zu komprimieren.

Hierin hebt sich A-UPX GUI von den anderen Programmen ab:
- Übersichtliche und schnell zu bedienende Oberfläche (jede Option ist mit maximal drei Mausklicks erreichbar)
- Es sind nahezu alle Einstellungen möglich, die bei UPX möglich sind.
- Mehrsprachig (inklusive LanguageEditor)
- Expertenmodus, mit dem man noch beliebig andere Parameter hinzufügen kann
- Programminternes Konsolenfenster: Kein kurzzeitiges aufpopen von UPX.exe wie bei anderen Programmen
- Nutzen einer externen Versionen von UPX
- Erkennen von bereits komprimierten Dateien
- Übergeben von langen Dateinamen (keine Fehlermeldung beim übergeben von Pfaden die ein Leerzeichen enthalten)
Das Setup enthält einen De-Installer, Hilfedatei , zwei Sprachdateien (Deutsch, Englisch), Languagefile-Creator zum erstellen eigener Sprachdateien und UPX 1.90 beta.
